About Haridwar
Where the Ganga meets the plains.
Haridwar, also known as "Mayapuri," is one of India's seven holiest cities. Situated on the right bank of the Ganges at the foothills of the Shivalik range, it marks the point where the sacred river exits the mountains and spreads across the plains. The name itself means "gateway to the gods" — and it is, quite literally, the starting point of the Char Dham Yatra.
For centuries, pilgrims, sages, and seekers have come to this city to bathe in its waters, attend its evening aarti, and begin their journey into the Himalayas. Whether you arrive for a weekend pilgrimage or a longer spiritual retreat, Haridwar rewards every kind of traveller.

Every sacred corner of Haridwar.
01 · Sacred Ghat
Har Ki Pauri
The Footprint of the Lord
The beating heart of Haridwar. Known as the "Steps of the Lord" — where Lord Vishnu is believed to have left his footprint. The Brahma Kund section is where a drop of amrita fell during the churning of the cosmic ocean, making it the holiest bathing ghat in India. Every evening at sunset, the Ganga Aarti transforms the ghat into a sea of flickering lamps and Sanskrit chants.
Best Time
Evening Ganga Aarti (6:00 PM summer · 5:30 PM winter)
Insider Tip
Arrive 30 minutes early for a front-row spot. Women should cover their heads during the aarti.
02 · Hilltop Siddhpeeth
Mansa Devi Temple
The Wish-Fulfilling Goddess
Perched atop Bilwa Parvat, one of the five Siddha Peethas of Haridwar. Goddess Mansa — a form of Shakti emerged from the mind of Sage Kashyap — is believed to grant the wishes of her devotees. Devotees tie sacred threads on a wish-granting tree and return to untie them when their wish is fulfilled. The ropeway offers stunning views of the Ganges plains stretching to the horizon.
Best Time
Early morning (6–9 AM) to avoid queues

Houses three deities — Lakshmi, Kali, and Saraswati — along with replicas of the 12 Jyotirlingas of India. After climbing a flight of steep stairs and crawling through a narrow tunnel, devotees are blessed with the sight of Maa Vaishno Devi. Believed to be built in memory of Trikuta, a devotee of Lord Ram.
