The Two Dhams

One circuit. Two of the holiest shrines in Hinduism.

The Do Dham Yatra — literally "two holy abodes" — is the shorter cousin of the Char Dham circuit, focused on the two most revered shrines in the Uttarakhand Himalayas: Kedarnath, one of the twelve Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva at 3,583 m, and Badrinath, the abode of Lord Vishnu at 3,133 m. For pilgrims short on time or daunted by the full four-shrine circuit, Do Dham offers the essence of the Himalayan yatra in a more manageable eight days.

Both dhams remain closed for six months each winter and reopen in late April or early May with ceremonial fanfare. Our Delhi-to-Delhi package handles every logistic — road transport, hotels along the route in Haridwar, Sonprayag, Pipalkoti, and Rishikesh, meals, mandatory Chardham registration, and optional helicopter transfers for Kedarnath. You focus on the pilgrimage; we handle everything else.

Day-by-Day Itinerary

8 days, thoughtfully paced.

Day 1

Delhi → Haridwar

Arrival · Har Ki Pauri · Ganga Aarti

Pickup from Delhi airport, railway station, or hotel. Drive to Haridwar (approx. 5–6 hours via NH334). Check in and freshen up. In the afternoon, visit Har Ki Pauri — the most sacred ghat on the Ganga where Brahma Kund marks the spot a drop of amrita fell. Witness the mesmerising evening Ganga Aarti, a soul-stirring start to your yatra. Overnight in Haridwar.

Day 2

Haridwar → Guptkashi → Sonprayag

Ganga Snan · Vishwanath Temple · 234 km · 8–9 hrs

After a sacred Ganga Snan in the morning, drive towards Sonprayag — the gateway to Kedarnath. En route, stop at the ancient Vishwanath Temple in Guptkashi, one of the most important winter abodes of Lord Kedarnath. Continue to Sonprayag / Sitapur. Check in and rest for the next day's trek. Overnight stay.

Day 3

Sonprayag → Kedarnath

Gaurikund · 16 km trek (or helicopter) · Darshan

Early morning transfer to Gaurikund, the base for the Kedarnath trek. From here, you have two options: a 16 km trek to Kedarnath (ponies, palanquins, and porters available), or a helicopter ride from Phata / Sersi / Guptkashi (optional, own cost — ₹7,000–9,000/person). Visit the Kedarnath Temple — one of the twelve Jyotirlingas and among the holiest Shiva shrines in India. Seek blessings in the temple's serene, snow-cradled setting. Visit Shankaracharya Samadhi behind the temple. Overnight at Kedarnath in basic accommodation.

Day 4

Kedarnath → Sonprayag

Early darshan · Descent · 14 km trek back

Rise before dawn for an early darshan at Kedarnath Temple — this is the most peaceful time to offer prayers. After breakfast, trek back down to Gaurikund and transfer to Sonprayag / Sitapur. Evening at leisure to rest aching legs. Overnight stay.

Day 5

Sonprayag → Tungnath → Pipalkoti

Gopinath Temple · Tungnath Trek · 148 km · 5–6 hrs

Check out after breakfast and drive towards Pipalkoti or Joshimath. En route, visit the ancient Gopinath Temple — where Lord Krishna is said to have identified Shiva and welcomed him as "Maharaj Gopeshwar." Optional 3.5 km trek (or pony ride) to Tungnath Temple, the highest Shiva temple in the world at 3,680 m. Continue to Pipalkoti or Joshimath (depending on availability). Afternoon at leisure. Overnight stay.

Day 6

Pipalkoti → Badrinath → Pipalkoti

Badrinath Darshan · Mana Village · 75 km each way

Early drive to Badrinath Temple, the abode of Lord Vishnu and one of the four Char Dham sites. Take a holy dip at Tapt Kund (natural hot spring) before temple darshan. Visit Mana — the last Indian village before the Tibetan border — including Vyas Gufa, Bhim Pul, and the source of the Saraswati river. Return to Pipalkoti for overnight stay.

Day 7

Pipalkoti → Rishikesh

Scenic descent · Laxman Jhula · 235 km · 6–7 hrs

Check out after breakfast and begin the scenic drive to Rishikesh — following the Alaknanda and Ganga rivers through Dev Prayag, where the Bhagirathi and Alaknanda merge to form the Ganga. On arrival in Rishikesh, if time permits, visit Laxman Jhula or attend the Parmarth Niketan Ganga Aarti. Overnight in Rishikesh.

Day 8

Rishikesh → Delhi · Departure

Farewell · Transfer to airport / railway station

After breakfast, check out and drive back to Delhi (approx. 250 km · 6–7 hrs). Drop at Delhi airport, railway station, or hotel. End of tour with memories of a lifetime.
