What is Do Dham Yatra?
Do Dham Yatra is a pilgrimage covering two of the four Char Dhams — Kedarnath and Badrinath — in the Garhwal Himalayas of Uttarakhand. "Do" means two in Hindi. These are widely considered the two most spiritually significant dhams of the Char Dham circuit, representing Lord Shiva and Lord Vishnu respectively.
Kedarnath (3,583 m) is one of the 12 Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva — believed to have been established by the Pandavas and rebuilt by Adi Shankaracharya. Badrinath (3,133 m) is the abode of Lord Vishnu in his meditative form and the final stop in the traditional clockwise circuit. Together, they are the two pillars of Himalayan pilgrimage.
Do Dham is ideal for pilgrims who cannot commit to the full 10-day Char Dham Yatra but wish to visit the most sacred leg of the journey. It is also the right choice for those returning to complete the remaining dhams in a future season.
